STEP 4:

Position the camera at the same height as the centre of your subjects face.   Slightly higher or lower will distort the image and provide inadequate results.   Centre the image on your subjects nose and be sure to be square to their profile - both vertically and horizontally.

Have the subject move their head and position the paper so that we have a clear image of their side profile and we also can see the entire sheet of folded paper in the photo.   Take several photos and send us the best one(s) for processing.

Babies and young children can be a challenge to photograph.   You may wish to try taking your image while they are sleeping or hold the paper for them.   Just remember the paper needs to be approximately 1-2 inches away from their face, directly in front and in line with their face and we need to capture the entire paper in the photograph.   You may need to crouch down to your child's level or have them carefully stand on a chair to get the best photo. Try to have them keep a closed mouth for the photo, unless you prefer an open mouth profile on your finished Portrait Pedestal.

Properly Composed
Subject is holding page perfectly inline with her nose and this image is shot with a sharp side profile level with the center of her face. The wall colour provides good contrast for her face and page. We can also see all the edges of the paper she is holding.

Improper Composition
Camera too low, would be better if the subject was in front of a slightly darker wall, paper not in line with subjects face and the subjects head is turned so it doesnt gives us a sharp side profile.
